Third Year Exams, From Start To Finish

Third year exam season is finally upon us, the culmination of three long years of study. It’s natural to feel anxious or stressed (even though some of your friends might seem as cool as a cucumber ), but we promise, you are not alone, to get prepared for the next couple of months we have pulled together a realistic timeline of this rollercoaster of emotions and stress.

Hopes vs. Reality

Determination: It all starts with a burst of energy a month before Exams begin. Exams may loom on the horizon, but they feel far away, overshadowed by the rejuvenating Easter break. With a plan in mind—going to the study room at Bailrigg Student Living, avoiding distractions, and using the gym for breaks or library visits, with the avoidance of temptations like Greggs, and a commitment to studying on C-Floor—you’ll begin the summer term feeling determined.

Procrastination: But as time goes on, it’s natural for that initial burst of determination to fade. Procrastination might set in. Instead of studying, TikTok, Netflix binges and obsessive room cleaning have become irresistible and the study room at Bailrigg Student Living may feel like a distant memory.

Caffeine Boost: To snap out of procrastination and change things up you might head to a local coffee shop to get your head down and study. With a coffee in hand surrounded by your flatmates, you’ll feel ready to knuckle down and revise in a new environment.

Dealing with Challenges

Feeling Down: As exams get closer, stress builds up. But don’t give up (feel free to have a cry, everyone does). When you’re ready to get back into study mode, the quiet of the study room at Bailrigg Student Living offers a place to calm down and collect your thoughts.

Friends to the Rescue: As the exam dates get closer it’s very normal to study together in the friendly atmosphere of the study room at Bailrigg Student Living. Knowing others are going through the same thing can make the pressure easier to handle.

Resolution: The week before, you’ll start to feel more confident than ever before. Having started studying weeks ago, you’ll be surprised by the amount you know and just how prepared you feel. For late night study sessions, a workout at the gym and the support of flatmates will help you through.

Looking back on all the challenges you’ve faced will help you feel excited for what's next.

You might throw yourself straight into the world of work or keep studying. Whatever you choose, the experiences that you have had at Bailrigg Student Living and the things you’ve learned at Lancaster University will help you succeed in your next big step!
