7 Places to Eat in Lancaster on a Student Budget

Of course, you can use your communal kitchen to make an awesome meal to share with your Lancaster Uni flatmates, but when you don’t fancy cooking, endlessly scrolling to try and find the perfect spot to eat can feel exhausting.
That’s why we have come up with this handy list (including how long it takes to get there from Bailrigg Student Living)!
KokoBento

Cuisine: Japanese and Hawaiian fusion
Ease of getting there: Simply hop on a bus and it's a few steps away from Common Garden Street bus stop.
Travel Time: Approximately 10 minutes by bus.

Review: We love KokoBento for a quick dinner! This cute little restaurant seamlessly blends Japanese and Hawaiian flavours. The customizable Pokè bowls are a must-try, and the combinations feel endless.
We love it for the vibrant atmosphere and quick (and super friendly) service.
Go Burrito

Distance: It depends how you feel. There are two options, you can either walk across campus or head to the city centre.

Review: Go Burrito feels like the ultimate comfort on a cold day. The small menu offers a delectable range of Mexican delights sure to brighten your day. The meal deal, featuring a regular burrito, chips, and a drink, is a pocket-friendly indulgence that's hard to resist.
We love it for the 'beats n' eats' ambiance that adds to the experience.
Nami Sushi

Review: If you love Yo Sushi, you’ll love Nami Sushi. The restaurant charms you with its sushi conveyor belt and diverse menu. Even those sceptical of sushi will find something to savour from the Japanese hot dishes range.
We love it for the salmon nigiri and avocado maki, an absolute must try for any Sushi fan.
The Study Room

Distance: A quick jaunt into town

Review: The Study Room is more than just a pub; it's an experience. The stacked burgers and loaded fries are comfort food at its finest.
We love it for the Thursday night pub quiz, this is popular with fellow students and is a must for your social calendar.
The Water Witch

Cuisine: Traditional pub food
Distance: Not super close, you need to be in the mood for a Sunday stroll to the pub.
Travel Time: Approximately 21 minutes by bus or an hour walk.

Review: The Water Witch offers a refreshing break from fast food and “loaded” eats with its traditional pub fare. If you’re feeling the pinch, the small plate versions of main courses are a budget-friendly delight. The steak & ale pie and the Water Witch burger are particularly rated and a must try if you haven't eaten Northern cuisine before!
We love it for the tables by the canal. The perfect spot to sit and watch the world go by on a dry day!
Full House Noodle Bar

Review: Full House Noodle Bar is a hidden gem with a HUGE menu spanning Chinese and Malaysian food. The staff are really friendly and always on hand to offer recommendations or advice which adds to the charm of the place.
We love it for the Passion fruit red tea with coconut jelly which is a delightful surprise that compliments the spicy dishes perfectly - try it!
Wallings
Address: Garstang Rd, Cockerham, Lancaster LA2 0HA
Cuisine: Ice cream and desserts
Distance: A bit further away but worth the journey for ice cream enthusiasts.
Travel Time: Approximately 20 minutes by bus.

Review: Wallings is an unofficial ice cream capital of Lancaster. If you have a sweet tooth, the menu offers desserts, including waffles, pancakes, as well as over 40 ice cream flavours! The butter toffee and strawberries and cream flavours are firm favourites.
We love it for exploring the nearby alpaca farm which adds a whimsical touch to the visit.
